New Nuclear Medicine Department

The project involved the expansion and reconfiguration of the Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC) at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital to accommodate a new Department of Nuclear Medicine. The work affected both the basement and the ground floor, which now house the mechanical and electrical systems required to support the department, as well as a new staircase providing access to the facilities.

The program included five major pieces of equipment (two PET scanners and three gamma cameras), along with their associated support spaces, a centralized hot lab, innovative injection alcoves, and several technical rooms. The facility was designed to meet stringent requirements for vibration control, radiation shielding, and construction phasing.

Delivered using the traditional design-bid-build approach, the project benefited from the early involvement of the design team, working in close collaboration with end users, biomedical engineers, medical physicists, and the specialized equipment supplier.
