Research Centre
An Integrated Hospital Campus Designed to Transform Care and Research.
The New Hospital Complex (NHC) is a major hospital project located on the site of Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus (HEJ). It is structured in several phases, including the Integrated Cancer Centre, the Critical Care Pavilion, the cyclotron, a research centre, and renovations to the existing hospital. Delivered through a consortium, the project is based on an architectural approach that seeks overall campus coherence during its transformation, efficient circulation, and flexible spaces, in order to better integrate teams and optimize care processes.
At the heart of this complex, the Quebec Integrated Precision Oncology Research Centre (CRIOPQ) acts as a catalyst for innovation by bringing together expertise, education, and research within a single ecosystem. Designed to address complex scientific challenges related to cancer, it aims to accelerate the translation of discoveries into concrete applications for the benefit of patients, while strengthening synergies between fundamental, translational, and clinical research.
The spatial organization combines laboratories, administrative spaces, research offices, and a multifunctional hall with a 300-seat amphitheatre, while promoting collaboration through flexible spaces, shared platforms, and formal and informal meeting areas. A structuring vertical axis and visual connections between teams and laboratories support interdisciplinary exchanges in bright, adaptable environments that accommodate the growth of research teams.
